It's not a red carpet affair like the Golden Globes, but 179 food establishments out of over 750 eligible establishments across the County have earned Golden Plate Awards from Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS). Twenty-six of those are in the Prescott Valley area.
The Golden Plate Award, now in its third year, has recognized a growing number of food establishments for operating practices that demonstrate an exceptionally strong commitment to food safety.
Only 106 food establishments met the criteria for the award this past year, but that was nearly double from the 61 food establishments that earned the award for their operating practices in 2005.r training. YCCHS, together with the Yavapai County Food Safety Industry Council and the University of Arizona's Cooperative Extension office, developed three criteria for award recipients: 1. Operate the entire calendar year without a cited critical violation on an inspection,
2. Safeguard their customers by implementing a YCCHS-approved food safety plan, and
